Revision to 2015 Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice
The 2015 AI has been revised to reflect the review of the AI and analysis of current data. Those impediments have been updated to tasks that MFA and DFA will be able to positively effect. The revision includes the tables included in the Action Plans and CAPERs since 2015, plus the 2017 Action Plan table. The revision can be reviewed here:
MFA and the New Mexico Department of Finance and Accounting are conducting a study concerning fair housing compliance and impediments to fair housing choice throughout the state. This study will analyze mortgage application data, fair housing complaints and the fair housing service delivery system, as well as media reports regarding fair housing. The study also depends on the opinions and experiences of people who are knowledgeable about housing and fair housing compliance issues – people like you.
Known as the “Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice,” the study is required by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The goals of the research are to identify whether barriers and adverse policies exist in a variety of areas, including housing rentals and sales, banking, insurance, and real estate industries. The study also examines public and administrative policies that may inadvertently lead to discrimination against protected classes.
A Fair Housing Forum was held on Wednesday, April 9th at MFA. Input was taken from the audience and has been included in the Draft 2015 Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice below.
